■ Educational Visit to the University of Cyprus by "Office Administration & Secretarial Studies" course
On Thursday, March 26th 2009, students of the course “Office Administration and Secretarial Studies” organized an educational visit to the University of Cyprus. The course students, escorted by members of the College Faculty (Michalis Georgiades, Head of Department – Computer Science teacher, Christiana Barba, English Language teacher), had the chance to visit the new premises of the University of Cyprus, and specifically the Council-Senate Building “Anastasios G. Leventis” in Aglantzia.
The educational visit included a tour to the Office of Director of Administration and Finance of the University, Mr. Christofides, where the Director’s two secretaries, in an hour-long presentation, outlined their daily work schedule and duties, which included organization of the daily programme of the Director, correspondence handling, internal staff services and archive updating. Mrs. Tasoulla Georgiou and Mrs. Sofie Tompazou, both KES College graduates, highlighted the significance of the academic education they had gained from the College, especially in areas like typing, shorthand, and English language and office procedures. They consider these the necessary foundation for a successful career in the field of Office Administration.
The students were then escorted by Mrs. Simoulla Christodoulou, secretary (also a KES College graduate) to the Service for Research, International and Public Relations of the University, and had the opportunity to observe the administration of the department completing a variety of their daily tasks and duties.
The students then visited the Human Resource Service of the University where Mrs. Anna Zembyla (Human Resource Service Officer) and Mrs. Georgia Diamantopoulou (secretary), outlined the prospects for permanent employment in the University. Specifically for administration positions, Mrs. Zembyla explained the required qualifications, salary scales and benefits, especially for persons with the qualifications that the course students will have with the completion of their studies at KES College.
KES College would like to thank the Director of Administration and Finance of the University of Cyprus, Mr. Christofides, who opened his offices to our students, and made this extremely important educational visit possible. Also, the College would like to thank Tasoulla Georgiou, Sofie Tompazou, Simoulla Christodoulou, Anna Zembyla and Georgia Diamantopoulou for their hospitality, their presentations, and all the time they devoted to our students.
