■ Summer Session 2007 Orientation Programme

For Summer Session the orientation programme took place on the 20th of July 2007. Students were welcomed by the International Student Affairs Officer and other staff during a welcoming presentation aimed to give some vital information about living in Cyprus and about the college itself. All students were given KES COLLEGE bags, containing information such as a map of Cyprus and Nicosia, a booklet with information regarding transportation, embassies, and regulations and about the facilities of the college. The migration registration procedure was explained in great detail to the students to avoid future problems. Before the end of the day, all students took a compulsory English placement test before commencing their main course. Students who do not meet the proficiency standards are required to take one or two semesters of our intensive English Language Course. A small reception follows where students could mingle with each other and get to know the KES COLLEGE staff members.

A bus tour around Nicosia’s important destinations took place on the 24th of July 2007. We started by showing the local supermarket to the students which is situated near our College for their convenience, and then the old city of Nicosia explaining the history of the island. We walked to the Statue of Liberty and Makarios Monument. From there we passed through Eleftherias square (explaining to students from where to get a bus or taxi to another city) and towards the Migration department. We continued to Makedonitissa monument were students learned about the Cyprus problem.
