Aims of the course:

This programme is designed to give students the opportunity to:

  • Recognise the need for existense of a structure, organization and the necessary sources for an effective function of the mass media field.
  • Understand the factors designating the levels of Mass Media.
  • Know the problems [social, political, financial] which Mass Media can cause or confront.
  • Correct use of the language, both written and oral: the ability of the journalist to present the news in an exact manner in the printed of/and in the electronic media of information which greatly depends on how he/she masters adequately the language he/she uses.
  • Write the news in a perceivable way.
  • Know the sources of news.
  • Collect news.
  • Discriminate clearly news and comments.
  • Sort the news or the material accordingly, to newspapers or periodicals.
  • Evaluate and classify the news.
  • Successfully entitle the news.
  • Know and apply existing legislation regarding Mass Media.
  • Appreciate and respect according to the established code of journalists ethics inspective of the sort of Mass Media in which they work.
  • Develop political thinking and the ability to analyse critically political situations.
  • Be aware of the developments that occur in the field of Mass Media and have the readiness to adapting to them.

Future Prospects

Journalism & Public Relations graduates have a variety of career options. Their skills are required by all of the major mass media. Further, graduates can find jobs in newspapers, radio and television stations, public relations and advertising firms and into the business and political worlds.
